The area
Trou aux Biches owes its reputation to its public beach: a long stretch of fine white sand, bordered by a calm, shallow lagoon particularly prized for swimming and snorkelling. It's one of the most photographed seaside destinations in the north of Mauritius, regularly featured in guides and rankings of the island's best beaches.
The area naturally draws families with children, reassured by the safety of the lagoon, as well as snorkellers who come to see the marine life just offshore. It's a slightly different guest profile from Grand Baie: less about nightlife, more about the beach and relaxation.
